Moorhill House in Burley

Atlas Contract Bars were delighted to be asked by Moorhill House Country Hotel to provide a large bespoke bar for their dining area. 

Moorhill House Hotel is charming, tucked away in the picturesque village of Burley in the New Forest. You drive into the forest to gain access to the hotel, wild horses literally right by the side of the road greet you as you approach. The house became a hotel in 1947 and has a great history.

Bespoke Bar

We produced and fitted a completely bespoke bar which boasts an impressive brass gantry, decorated with a plethora of wine and cocktail glasses. The bar has a number of shelves making room for spirits, savouries, built in fridges and yet more glasses. The mirrored back bar highlights the array of optics containing regulars such as Jamesons and Martini. Moorhill provides a large number of locally sourced drinks.

Inspired by the surrounding ancient woodland and the rich history of the New Forest, the bar’s front is fluted (ribbed) to mimic the areas' giant oak trees. Forest-green textiles seats and brown banquette seating furnish the dining area. Botanical flourishes are all around, including the forest wallpaper. A spacious terrace offers sweeping views of the hotel’s gardens and nearby trees, seamlessly connecting the indoors with nature.

Since opening, the bar has become a vibrant hub for both hotel guests and the local community, two of whom we spoke to when we visited to take photographs. They told us the tale of the White Witch of Burley Sybil Leek which invoked cautious interest in the areas' local traditions and array of witch-themed shops.
